Whether on foot, on a scooter, or riding their very first bicycle, taking part in road traffic is a great adventure for children—but it also comes with significant challenges.
To raise awareness among young people in our region about the risks of road traffic from an early age, Kern Antriebstechnik is supporting an important prevention project by Verkehrswacht Bodenseekreis e. V. this year.
Safety and precision are not only guiding principles in our drive technology solutions; they are also values that matter deeply to us in our social commitment. As a company with strong regional roots, we are therefore keen to actively support road safety education for preschool and primary school children in the Lake Constance district.
Learning through play
Together with K&L-Verlag, Verkehrswacht Bodenseekreis e. V. has published a new child-friendly coloring and read-aloud book. In a playful way, the book teaches young children important road safety rules:
Understanding traffic signs: What types of signs are there, and what do they mean?
Bicycle safety: When is a bicycle truly safe to use on the road?
Everyday protection: Why is wearing a bicycle helmet essential when riding a bike or scooter?
Responding correctly in an emergency: What should you do in the event of a traffic accident?
The book is complemented by a digital learning assessment tool that allows children to interactively check whether they have completed the tasks correctly. In addition, educational posters in group rooms and classrooms help reinforce what they have learned.
Protective helmets for a safe journey to school
In addition to the educational materials, Verkehrswacht Bodenseekreis e. V. will also receive free children’s bicycle helmets as part of the project. These will be distributed specifically to girls and boys who do not own a helmet or only have a damaged one.
Thanks to the support of numerous local companies, the books, posters, and helmets can be distributed completely free of charge to preschools and primary schools throughout the region. It is a project that provides real added value and one we are very pleased to support.
